0:38Staying in wine country means the day starts the moment we collect you. No long transfer from the city, just a short run to your first cellar door and a group of no more than 11 for the rest of the day.
Pickups run at around 9.45am and you are back at your door by about 4pm, so there is time to linger at each cellar door rather than watch the clock. Three seated tastings, a spirits tasting, a paired produce tasting and lunch overlooking the vines, with your guide handling everything in between.
Please note the venues featured on each tour may vary. We aim to give you the best day out in the Hunter Valley and will fine-tune the itinerary where needed.
How Local Pickup Works
Pickup areas: we collect you from your accommodation in Pokolbin, Cessnock, Lovedale, Nulkaba and Allandale. Hotels, resorts, cabins and Airbnbs are all easy.
Pickup and return times: pickups run at around 9.45am and we drop you back at your door at approximately 4pm after your final tasting.
Staying in Pokolbin, Cessnock or Lovedale: you are only minutes from the first cellar door, so the whole day stays in wine country. If you are staying just outside these areas, email [email protected] and we will do our best to help.

Approximately 6 hours door to door. Pickups from your Cessnock, Pokolbin, Lovedale, Nulkaba or Allandale accommodation start at around 9.45am and we return you to your door at approximately 4pm. With no long transfer at either end, almost all of your day is spent at the cellar doors.
Do I need to be 18 to come on this tour?
Yes. This is an 18+ tour due to the cellar door wine tastings. For wine-curious families travelling with younger children, our Country NSW Day Tour is an alternative that welcomes children.
What’s included in the $199 price?
All entry fees and tasting fees: three seated wine tastings, an artisan vodka and gin tasting, and a paired food tasting (cheese, chocolate or small bites). Plus Hunter Valley door-to-door pick-up and drop-off, and a local guide for the full day. Lunch is at your own cost. We stop at 4 Pines at The Farm for a relaxed à la carte meal overlooking the vines.

Yes. Door to door pickup from Pokolbin, Cessnock, Lovedale, Nulkaba and Allandale accommodation is included in the price. Tell us where you are staying when you book and we will confirm your pickup time.
What’s the dress code?
Dressy casual. Cellar doors prefer no thongs, ripped clothing, costumes or singlets (for men). Closed shoes are recommended for walking through the vineyards. A light jacket is handy in cooler months.
Which wineries do you visit?
Our regular itinerary includes Hungerford Hill, Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard, Bonvilla Estate, The Fat Cow, Small Mouth Vodka and Hunter Wine Lab, with lunch at 4 Pines at The Farm. We occasionally rotate venues to keep tastings fresh and to respond to seasonal availability, so the exact lineup may vary.

Every public group departure now includes a non-alcoholic option at no extra cost. Simply select the "Non-Alcoholic Wine Tour Option" when you book and you'll enjoy the same relaxed day and seated tastings — with premium non-alcoholic drops from Hunter Valley names such as McGuigan Zero and Tamburlaine's organic Jack Squat range in place of the alcoholic pours. More and more guests are choosing the option for health, religious or cultural reasons, or simply because they prefer to. The itinerary is largely the same for everyone; at the occasional stop, we may take non-alcoholic guests to a nearby cellar door for their tasting before rejoining the group.
Please note: non-alcoholic (dealcoholised) wines may retain a trace of residual alcohol (up to 0.5% ABV, similar to the levels found naturally in some fruit juices), so they may not be suitable if you avoid alcohol entirely for medical, pregnancy or faith reasons. All guests on this tour must be 18+.

The winding roads of Hunter Valley Wine Country hold centuries of stories just waiting to be uncorked. This tale begins in 1832 when a Scottish gentleman named James Busby arrived on Aussie shores armed with an eclectic collection of 500 European vine cuttings. With sister Catherine in tow, Busby secured a land grant and wasted no time planting those precious vines near present-day Morpeth.
By 1840 vineyards flourished across over 500 acres of Hunter Valley, and an intrepid doctor named Henry Lindeman was crafting exceptional wines that caught the attention of pioneering families like the Draytons, Tullochs, Tyrrells and Wilkinsons. Together through the mid to late 1800s they cultivated a world-class wine region.
Nearly 200 years later, Hunter Valley’s pioneering spirit lives on through skilled viticulturists and boundary-pushing winemakers unafraid to achieve richly authentic wines vintage after vintage. A growing number of estates still produce sublime wines from those original 1840s vines - extremely rare pre-phylloxera survivors. You can taste history firsthand with old vine Hunter Valley Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnay.
